Planeta Pautado · From Porto
Planeta Pautado keeps vans to eight guests and spends the whole day in the Douro: the N222, a one-hour boat in Pinhão, the São Cristóvão viewpoint and two wineries near Sabrosa, one of them with lunch. One guest mentions being welcomed by the owners.

Pickup and drop-off are at Trindade Metro Station, an easy point to reach from anywhere in Porto. The van holds eight guests at most. It is about 1.5 hours to the valley, with an optional 30-minute breakfast stop on the way, and then 20 minutes on the N222 along the river before the first activity.
The boat comes first, a one-hour cruise from Pinhão, while the morning is still cool. After a photo stop at the Miradouro São Cristóvão, the van heads up to Sabrosa, on the plateau north of the river, for lunch and a tasting at a winery (1.5 hours) and a second winery visit and tasting (75 minutes). The day includes a Port tasting and two olive oil tastings. One guest wrote that at both stops the owners welcomed the group themselves.
What you give up is a visit to the big river-level estates around Pinhão. What you get is smaller places and an unhurried day of about 9 hours. The drive home is close to two hours, so the day is still a road trip. It runs rain or shine, and there is no room for luggage or large bags.
